I think languages are very cool and I would LIKE to learn to speak at least one other, besides English, fairly fluently. I would love to learn them all! I am jealous of people who are multilinguistic. French currently tops my list. I would also like to learn Spanish, Esperanto, German, Japanese and Italian. Alas, the language I use the most (besides English) is Romulan, although I'm nowhere near fluent.

Unfortunately, I tend to get distracted (OOOH! SHINY!!!) and not study as much as I should. If I worked a bit harder, I'm sure I could learn to speak at least ONE other language.

Alas, I fear I have become a linguaphile. Not that that in itself is bad. But it sure takes up an awful lot of room. I have at least 4 books written in Chinese-only. I can't read Chinese. I have at least as many on learning Japanese; I'd like to learn Japanese some day. I have a book entitled Learning Korean - A Practical Approach - Level I. But I doubt I'll ever learn Korean. I have an old German/English dictionary. I would like to learn German.

I have four French dictionaries, a French verb book, a French textbook, Essential French Grammar by Resnick and Schaum's French Vocabulary.

But the "most useful" things I have are my Spanish books. I've decided to focus on Spanish, since that is the de facto second language around here. I have four Spanish dictionaries, Say it in Spansh (a tiny phrasebook), 1001 Most Useful Spanish Words, Essential Spanish Grammar by Resnick, First Spanish Reader, three Spanish textbooks, Spanish the Easy Way and Spanish Made Simple. I think that is all.

This does not count the assorted software I have on my computer for Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, German, French, Latin, etc., etc., etc. I also have several Spanish audio files, among which are the Podcast newsletters from Insta Spanish. I also have some French audio files and French music CDs.

I need to find some good Spanish music CDs.
